Holistic Pelvic Care (TM) is holistic physiotherapy practice pioneered by Tami Lynn Kent, an American Pelvic Physical Therapist, after she was searching for an integrative care model that would facilitate pelvic bowl healing physically, energetically, emotionally and spiritually.
The practice includes tools designed to evaluate, restore balance and enhance vibrant flow in the pelvic bowl of the female body by working with a woman's core patterens. This includes (optional) intravaginal work, fascial release, breathwork, visualisation and intuitive listening to the body which can help guide the body to wholeness and healing.
These sessions can benefit anyone with:
- Improving their connection to their pelvic space and/or womb space
- Pregnancy loss & Birth trauma
- Ancestoral & Lineage trauma and holding patterns that aren't yours
- Any pelvic health issues including: prolapse, bladder and bowel issues and pelvic floor dysfunction
In Emma's words ...
I had the absolute privilege of attending Tami's in-person trainings in March 2023 in Auckland. This consisted of a 20 hour pre-learning material online with Tami and then a 4 day in-person practical session with other practitioners. These wonderful wahine consisted of Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, Pre & Postnatal Bodyworkers, Midwives, Arvigo Therapists and Yoga Therapists. I had already dicovered the potency of Tami's work once we had learnt the written material and had started implementing it in clinic with clients. There has been some huge shifts for clients who had sensed something was not quite right but just couldn't put their finger on why.
I truly believe that when working with physical conditions of the pelvis, you can not ignore the emotional and energetic connections to the body as a whole. Women are not small men (as Dr Stacy Sims would say) and so by acknowledging all the parts of a human experience (mind, body and spirit), it can help clients to have a sense of empowerment and reconnect with their potential of power, joy and spirit that can come from the pelvis.
I personally integrate this body of work in some way every day in my clinic and it has been a game-changer. If this is something that speaks to you, then please feel free to reach out through the website and we can answer any questions you may have.
